Google has launched another new product, this one is called SearchWiki.
Having a look at it, SearchWiki basically helps you organise your search results. On the Google Blog it mentions that the changes that are made to the search results are only seen by you and it doesnt effect Google’s search results on the whole. To quote Google “Maybe you’re an avid hiker and the trail map site you always go to is in the 4th or 5th position and you want to move it to the top. Or perhaps it’s not there at all and you’d like to add it.”
Errr……Hasnt Google heard of bookmarks. Why would someone bother with changing their search results around? Why wouldnt the person just bookmark the trail map, rather than always do a repeated search for it?
Naturally, this is just my opinion but I dont really see the benefit to anybody.
Anyway, here is a video explaining how it works.
Google’s email service, Gmail, has had a small tweak. You can now choose a theme for your Gmail. This option is still in its rollout period, so some of you may not see the tab yet to change your theme, but it is coming.
Patience is a virtue when it comes to Google’s slow rollouts!
If you dont have access yet, here is a sneak peak.

Check out this guy who cant ride a bike. He has had his photo taken as he falls off by the Google Street View camera car. In this first photo you can see him riding along the footpath. The camera is coming up behind him. He has no idea what is about to happen.
LOL! This shot has the Google camera car passing him as he is on the pavement. He still has no idea that his photo is being taken and is going to be shown across the globe.
As the Google camera car drives off into the wild west, we can see our friend falling backwards with his legs in the air. Hilarious!
If you dont believe me, here it is in all its glory.
It seems the guys over at Google in the UK want you to do more with Google than just do a standard search.
Most experienced Google users would already know most of these little tips and tricks that you can do with Google, but some may not. For example, did you know that you can do a currency conversion with Google? Or, Find the ultimate answer to life, the universe and everything? or Fill in web forms with one click.
What I have provided you here is just 3 of the little surprises up Google’s internet sleeve. If you would like to see a heap more head over to the Google UK’s Things to Do page and you will get the remaining 49.
If you know any tricks that Google hasn’t listed here? Post them below by using the comment box.
Google make a lot of money through advertising. But Google’s Image Search was one of their properties that was not making any money through advertising. Google just couldn’t find a way to use their image search to profit it from it.
That’s was until now. Google have started testing ads in Google Image Search and they way they have done it is very clever. See if you can spot it in this screen capture.
As I said, this is still in a testing phase and you may not see it for a while, but be prepared for it!
